NTIPRIT is the apex level Capacity Building Institute of the Ministry of Communications, Government of India. It plays a crucial role in the telecom ecosystem of India in capacity building, policy research, innovation, knowledge creation and dissemination among all the stakeholders.

The ecosystem of ICT sector is rapidly evolving and redefining all important walks of life, including Governance. The pace of technological advancements may lead to gaps in the knowledge too. Therefore, keeping track of latest developments in the sector becomes absolutely important. NTIPRIT is mandated to bridge this gap by conducting different capacity building initiatives/ seminar/ workshop, etc.

It regularly conducts international trainings under the aegis of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Asia-Pacific Tele-community (APT) fellowship schemes, ASEAN and ITU. The indicative list of subjects of training include Network and Information Security, 5G, 6G, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Use of ICT in Disaster Management, Cyber Security, Data Protection and various Policy and Regulatory issues. Besides conducting training programmes, NTIPRIT is also mandated to provide policy inputs to the Government on the issues related to Telecom sector and promote Research & Development and Innovation in collaboration with academia and Industry. It also conducts Study of International best practices in various issues including Telecom Security, commissions in-house studies and outsourced studies for specific areas of concern facilitating the government in decision making and thereby, functioning as the telecom think tank of the Government for working out India specific models and technical solutions. A 'Centre for Broadband Proliferation in Rural Areas' (CBBPiR) has also been established recently in NTIPRIT for contributing to the objectives of National Broadband Mission of Government of India and USOF.

NTIPRIT discharges its Coordination role by synergizing the effort made by public and private bodies engaged in telecom & ICT research and Innovation. It provides a platform for encouraging cross-industry cooperation and information sharing, promoting fundamental research in telecom sector through collaboration with industry and academia, fostering innovation in emerging technologies in Telecom space and help develop the core competence in telecom IPR.

We seek to develop further collaboration with relevant stakeholder institutions for cross-industry cooperation and information sharing so as to evolve into a national platform for knowledge creation and dissemination. NTIPRIT is also committed to be an International Centre of Excellence to strengthen the Digital Communications eco-system, for the benefit of all stakeholders, including the public at large.
