| Learning Objectives | High speed broadband connectivity to the Islands is made possible through Undersea Optical Fibre Cables. Enhanced telecom and broadband connectivity provide big boost to e-governance, tourism and Information Technology. It gives impetus to the economy and raises standards of living. The first such project was completed between Chennai and Portblair in August 2020. Another such project being funded by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) Kochi-Lakshadweep Submarine OFC project. This webinar discusses the background and plans of DoT regarding Submarine OFC connectivity, Impact of Undersea OF Cable Connectivity in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Plan and status of Kochi-Lakshadweep Submarine OFC project and Process and Challenges in Submarine Cable system. |
